Better gAteway does what the title says it takes deviantART's new outgoing link gateway and makes it better! But not only that, it adds new, exciting features related to the use of outgoing links in posts around dA!
What Better gAteway does: New features just added in 1.0beta2 on June 1st: This userscript is sort of an amalgamation of all ideas related to the deviantART outgoing links gateway and external links in general you can make it do what you want, and if you've got some new great ideas, please send me a note, and I'll consider adding them! This is still a beta version. Requires Mozilla Firefox and the Greasemonkey extension. To access the Better gAteway Preferences panel once you've installed the userscript: Many thanks goes to `Zikes for helping me out with a lot of JavaScript issues! Enjoy! This script is dual-licensed; either CC-BY (above) or the MIT License applies. Oh, and, if you want to test it out once you've installed, here's a link to a YouTube video: [link] And here's a link to some image: [link] Daily DeviationGiven 2009-06-01Better gAteway by `electricnet This is a script that will silence even the harshest critic of the gateway pages. To see more of my photography and for future uploads check my FLICKR, as I don't use dA as much.
Will try this, sounds great!

I can't believe you are actually wasting your valuable time by reading this pointless sentence.

Two things I've noticed though, after taking it for a test drive:
I had checked the option to show YouTube videos inline if it's in the whitelist, then added youtube.com to the whitelist (using the link in the popup, after clicking a youtube link) but it would not play inline. I removed youtube.com from the whitelist and clicked the 'show YouTube vide inline' link and it worked. A bug, right? (I tested it on this journal: [link])
Second, I tested the inline image display on this journal - [link] - when I try using the scrollbars it drags the image (ie, when I click+drag the scrollbar it acts like I've click+drag the image/link.) Clicking the scroll arrows works fine though.
So, two minor bug reports, and now a suggestion. Since displaying the youtube/image inline is such a useful feature, why not make it a more prominent option in the popup gateway? As a third button perhaps?
Anyhow. Much kudos for the work gone into this. Just noticed the domain highlighting in the destination URL, nice touch that
The second bug is because the image is inside a span which is inside a link, and apparently it thinks that you're clicking the link when you're dragging the scrollbars (!) — I'll fix that later, but for now, use the scroll wheel or the arrow keys.
And, about that suggestion, I was aiming to make that so that the whole right side of the gateway message was made out of icons, but I'm not that much of an iconist and kinda left it alone. For now, I've bolded the "Show ... inline" link, as that's a good idea.
